Meet Rylie Barden!

My name is Rylie Barden, and I am graduating in the winter of 2025! I’m getting my Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing and a certificate in Digital Marketing. In addition to being a Student Ambassador for CBUS, I also serve as a Teaching Assistant for Nicole Vowles’ Marketing Research course.

Q&A with Rylie

What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
This semester I have one in-person class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and three online courses. When I arrive to school, I love catching up with friends and faculty and attending class, of course! After class, I’ll head home to do lots of other school-related things, like catch up on my online course work or my responsibilities as a TA.

What has your journey at MSU Denver been like?
I’m actually a transfer student at MSU. I started at a bigger university where I often felt like I didn’t really belong. But at MSU, I really felt like I have been part of this community and that my opinions and my voice is heard and respected across the campus. I really like that part of the journey here at MSU.

What are you passionate about within business?
I am a digital marketing major, so I am really passionate about that world. I particularly enjoy social media and website development.

What are your future career plans?
I’m not sure what the future is going to look like for me. I’m hoping to do some sort of sports marketing. I think that would be really fun. I really like website development, so just building websites for businesses would be really cool, too.

What clubs, organizations, or events have you enjoyed the most at MSU Denver?
I am a TA. And I think that’s probably one of the things that I enjoy the most. I really like helping my fellow students and faculty and providing research.

What advice would you give to new business students?
For new business students, I would really encourage them to create relationships with their professors. They truly want the best for you, so use that to your advantage. They have so many, networking methods that they can give you and tools that you should utilize to help you grow.

What’s something that you wish you knew before you started college?
When I started college, I wish I was more confident in myself and just realized that I actually do know what I’m doing. Use all the resources that are presented to you, like the faculty relationships or going to all the extra events and the panels and things like that, it will truly help you.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the College of Business at MSU Denver?
I kind of touched on this before, but my favorite part is the MSU Denver community. I really feel like everybody values everyone here. Your opinion is heard, and you are cared for.
