Introducing Jude Tauer, a Marketing Student that has joined the Fall 2026 CBUS Student Ambassador Program.

Hey guys! My name is Jude Tauer, and I am a 25-year-old Marketing major from Denver Colorado! I work as a soccer coach for Coerver Colorado and do freelance video editing. Outside of work and school, you can find me playing and watching soccer, at a local brewery, spending time with friends and family, or watching the Avalanche at Ball Arena.
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
I like to get an early jump on the day, so I frontload my class schedule to start and end as early as possible. I usually wake up around 7 to prepare for my first class of the day at 9:30. I get out of class in the early afternoon and like to either head home to get a jump on my homework, do some video editing, or meet up with some friends to watch a soccer game at a local pub. After finishing my work, I like to have dinner with my family or girlfriend and spend the evening winding down by playing soccer in an adult league or playing video games with my friends.
What brought you to MSU Denver?
Honestly, I have had an up and down academic history. I always tested well and knew the material but got poor grades due to not applying myself. This ended rather poorly for me when I attended CSU as an Electrical Engineering major. Both my grades and my mental health saw a significant decline, which only cycled and got worse as time went on. I ended up dropping out and taking some time off from school while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Eventually I matured and decided I wanted to get my degree. After a couple of years of community college at FRCC, I applied to MSU and they believed in me as much as I believed in myself. This second chance at higher education has been extremely beneficial and has resulted in me not only doing significantly better academically but being more invested in my success outside of the classroom through making and pursuing more professional connections.
What area of business are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about marketing and am hoping to pursue a career in digital or social media marketing for a professional sports team. With that said, I spend a significant portion of my free time studying financial markets and their patterns because I find that fascinating as well.
What’s your favorite College of Business memory so far?
My favorite College of Business memories so far have been meeting with my professors outside of class to discuss my future career plans. I always found it incredible how much you could see that they truly cared in any way they could. This often resulted in valuable career advice I had not considered stemming from their experience or connections to professionals outside the university in my desired field.
What’s one piece of advice for new students? And/or what’s something you wish you knew before college?
I think you really get out of college whatever you put into it. If you never go to class or do your assignments, you get nothing, but the inverse is also true. If you really apply yourself, you not only get much better grades but gain a wealth of knowledge that will directly apply to your career. I have taken classes I did not really care for, but I applied myself in those courses and found myself looking back on what I learned in them for professional guidance and wisdom in my real job.
