Hi! My name is Iman, and I’m a junior, majoring in Marketing at MSU Denver.
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
A typical day for me is being on campus on Mondays and Wednesdays, and typically I will be studying on campus, and then during free time I’ll get food or work out.
What brought you to MSU Denver?
What brought me to MSU was I originally planned on going to CU Boulder, but I ultimately chose MSU Denver because I realized how important it was for me to stay local and connected to my community. I liked that MSU Denver gave me the opportunity to stay close to home while still having a strong college experience in the heart of Denver.
What area of business are you most passionate about?
I’m passionate about marketing and customer experience. I really love when companies build authentic relationships with other people.
What’s your favorite College of Business memory so far?
My favorite College of Business memory so far was the drive-in movie they hosted. We got to watch Sinners, and having Waka Flocka Flame come to MSU Denver was also very fun.
What’s one piece of advice for new students? And/or what’s something you wish you knew before college?
A piece of advice I would give to new students coming to MSU Denver is to remember that everyone’s college experience looks different. As a transfer student, I felt like there was a lot of pressure to immediately get involved, find my place, and meet people I could trust. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take your time and build a routine that works for you. Whether that means taking a certain number of classes or credits each semester, joining organizations when you feel ready, or slowly finding your community on campus, you don’t have to follow the same timeline as everyone else. Make your college experience your own and find what makes you feel comfortable and supported.
