Q&A with Aaron
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
During the semester, my typical morning activities usually involve working out, attempting to wake up my dog, and having a good, endearing walk with her. Then I take a train to come over to MSU Denver and have about 4 to 6 hours of classes per day. And then on top of that, I usually go home, try and read for a couple hours, and do any studies that I can.
What has your journey at MSU Denver been like?
So far, it’s been excellent. I have had a lot of encompassing ideas that revolve, something that breaks upon my foundation of thinking, and one of the things to know is that the faculty has been super supportive in terms of the rigorous academics that I could ask for here in school and for potentially future outcomes.
What are you passionate about within business?
I really like the fact that everyone is motivated for some reason, and there is always a direction that you could potentially take regarding either benefiting yourself, benefiting others, or just finding ways to increase the productivity of everyone.
What are your future career plans?
As of right now, the long-term goal is to go for a PhD in economics. I don’t know specifically what type of study I would like to do, but the entire point is to try and figure out what you want to do and explore. Be promiscuous and try to figure out what’s going on around the world. But other than that, it seems like, so far, economics has been such a great home for me.
What clubs, organizations, or events have you enjoyed the most at MSU Denver?
Personally, the only one that I’ve been to has been the Exploring Economic Freedom Project with Steve Forbes. He gave a great speech, kind of just talking about the political climate that’s going on in the world. And in terms of his book, he was trying to dictate how to govern policy to try and figure out what’s best for the American people. I thought it was an interesting idea, and he did a really good job explaining himself.
What advice would you give to new business students?
One thing to know is that you have no idea what’s going to happen in the future. The only thing that you can really do is understand the game that you’re playing and try to get yourself the best probability odds that will win you the best results.
What’s something that you wish you knew before you started college?
The biggest thing is being able to communicate well. It doesn’t always dictate outcomes, but one thing you need to be assertive about is just being truthful to yourself. If you don’t, you’re going to be running in circles trying to figure out what you want to do and how far you’re going to go.
What’s your favorite thing about being part of the College of Business at MSU Denver?
So far, it’s the support of the faculty. The big thing is that, along with what I mentioned earlier, I believe that they provide a lot of supportive material to try and help you figure out what you’re trying to do.
