What makes CBUS Advising stand out? Two key initiatives, Advising Plans for All and Drop-In Advising, work together to support student success in practical and meaningful ways.  

Advising Plans for All give every CBUS student a clear roadmap to graduation. These semester-by-semester plans outline the best course sequence for each degree program, reducing uncertainty and helping students stay on track. The plans are designed with timely graduation and cost-effectiveness in mind, making it easier to register with confidence.  

At the same time, we understand that students need flexibility. Preliminary data from a recent transfer student survey shows that advising preferences are shifting. Compared to 2018, fewer transfer students are scheduling routine advising appointments each semester. Instead, more students are choosing to meet with their advisor when questions or concerns arise. That’s where Drop-In Advising comes in. This flexible model gives students access to advising support when they need it most, without requiring a scheduled appointment. Drop-In Advising is dependent on advisor availability so making appointments remains the preferred method to connect with your advisor.  

Together, these two initiatives provide structure and accessibility. Students have a plan they can follow, with the freedom to ask for help whenever it’s needed.
