Social Work

Bio

I grew up near Boston, MA and moved to Colorado in 1998. I love the sun, mountain views, and dry air but I do miss the beach! In addition to being part time faculty in the Social Work Program at MSU Denver, I am also a school social worker and homeless education liaison for Adams 12 Five Star Schools. We strive to remove barriers that prevent students from achieving academic and social success with an emphasis on meeting basic needs through a whole child model.

Educational Biography

University of Denver, 2009, Ritchie Program, Certificate in School Administration

Simmons College School of Social Work, 1998, Master of Social Work Award: Multi-Cultural Practice Award, 1997

Clark University, 1996, Bachelor of Arts-Psychology Award: Worcester County Alumni Scholarship 1992-1996

Teaching Interests

I see myself as a guide and a facilitator of the journey to becoming a professional social worker. I take pride in being a field liaison, a supervisor and an affiliate faculty in the BSW and MSW programs. It is my passion to engage and inspire students to challenge their thinking beyond what they hold to be true. We can be the change we want to see in the world; one social worker at a time.
