Research Interests

During high school and college, Dr. Curl spent years abroad studying psychology and culture. He currently pursues scholarship and professional development activities in social and multicultural psychology, as well as human sexuality. Working with his friend and colleague, Dr. Mary Ann Watson, he most recently completed three new educational films titled, “The Meaningful Life,” “Pursuit of Happiness” and “Dimensions of Culture,” now published by Films for the Humanities and Sciences. Drs. Curl and Watson have produced numerous award winning films including a 21-part video series titled Portraits in Sexuality, which is used across the United States and abroad, as well as “Becoming Me: The Gender Within” and “Rocking the Cradle: Gay Parenting.” Among his other published works is a lead article for International Education titled, “The Cross-Cultural Generality of Equal Opportunity Climate: A Study of College Students,” which sampled 1334 students in three countries.
