Candy Lee Osgood Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in honor of Candy Lee Osgood, an MSU Denver graduate.

  • English major
  • Min GPA of 3.0
  • Woman
  • Renewable for multiple years
  • Does not have to be a Colorado resident or US citizen
  • Please submit a creative writing sample not to exceed 10 pages. This text could be an excerpt of a longer work

Gerald Fenger Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in honor of Dr. Gerald Fenger, a respected colleague and admired American literature professor.

  • English major
  • GPA of 2.75
  • Have financial need, based on FAFSA or Dreamer application on file with MSU Denver
  • Does not have to be a Colorado resident or US citizen
  • Please submit a researched essay of at least 8 pages on a literary, filmic, or rhetorical topic.

Dorothea Brooke Endowed Scholarship

Established by a generous anonymous donor and named for the protagonist of George Eliot’s Middlemarch.

  • English major
  • GPA of 3.0
  • Financial need, based on FAFSA or Dreamer Application on file with MSU Denver
  • Taking 12 credit hours or more during semester scholarship received
  • Does not have to be a Colorado resident or US Citizen
  • Please submit a researched essay of at least 8 pages on a literary, filmic, or rhetorical topic.

Dr. Paul Farkas Memorial Scholarship

Established in honor of Dr. Paul Farkas, a respected colleague and admired American literature professor.

  • English major
  • GPA of 3.0
  • Taking 12 credit hours during semester scholarship is received
  • Must be a Colorado resident and a US Citizen
  • Scholarship can be received for multiple years
  • Please submit a 10-15 page critical literary analysis on topic chosen by student

Future Teacher Award

Established to help a promising new teacher with tuition during their demanding student-teaching semester.

  • English/Secondary Education major
  • GPA of 3.0
  • Must be student teaching during the semester award is received
  • Does not have to be a Colorado resident
  • Please submit a unit plan from 4600 or 4640 along with a 3-5 page essay describing your vision for your secondary language arts classroom

Linguistics Endowed Scholarship

Established by faculty and friends of the Linguistics Program to provide scholarships for students who have a declared major or minor in linguistics. Applications are only accepted during Fall semesters. Recipient(s) will be notified during Fall semester Finals’ Week. In any particular year, this scholarship may have more than one recipient or no recipients, depending on the applications received

  • A copy of a current MSU Denver transcript
  • Please submit a statement (no more than 300 words) explaining why you chose to study Linguistics and/or what about the field continues to interest you
