“Consistency is key to building trust,” said Andrea Smith, associate vice president of strategic communications. “These tools are provided to ensure we’re all ‘singing from the same songbook’ as President Davidson likes to say.”

Advantages to using these centralize resources include:

  • Efficiency: Centralized data and information resources streamline operations, reducing redundancy and making processes more efficient. This ensures that everyone involved has access to the most accurate information.
  • Consistency: “Singing from the same page of the songbook” is crucial for accurate reporting, decision-making, and maintaining a cohesive organizational identity.
  • Collaboration: Centralized resources facilitate collaboration by providing a shared point of reference for teams to access and contribute information. This promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and enhances communication among different departments and units.

To support consistency with other publicly reported numbers, this data should be the go-to resource for any core data shared externally. Though data is invariably fluid e.g., changing enrollment reports, spring semester census referring to a centralized “document of record” and explicitly noting any variation from this by including both source and timestamp is crucial for maintaining trust and integrity across communications.
