Senate officer elections
Senate officer elections will begin at the next Faculty Senate meeting May 3. All terms are one year, so each seat is open. Contact Micah Battson, Ph.D., assistant professor of Nutrition, or nominate on the Senate floor at the next meeting.
Bylaws technical change
Human Performance and Sport has changed its name to Exercise and Sport Sciences. That change will be reflected in the Faculty Senate bylaws.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation BBQ
MSU Denver employees can begin to RSVP for the May 4 event.

Sen. Julie Rada, affiliate faculty, presented the Affiliate Faculty Subcommittee report.
First reads
Academic Policy Committee changes
Sen. Jenny Allert, DNP, MSN, R.N., associate professor of Nursing, held a first read on graduate catalog changes to correct some inaccuracies involving simultaneous enrollment and interinstitutional registration. The simultaneous enrollment change will be voted on at the next meeting, while the interinstitutional registration change is a nonvoting APC change.
Curriculum changes
Sen. Kim Klimek, Ph.D., associate professor of History, held a first read on curriculum manual changes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. These changes have already been unanimously approved by the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee.
IRC and Rules Committees bylaws
Sens. Battson and Kelly Evans, Ph.D. assistant professor of Sport Management, proposed changes to the Instructional Resources Committee bylaws.
Handbook changes
Vice President Jessica Weiss, Ph.D., professor of Art History, held a first read on several handbook changes.

Sen. Kate Schmidt, Ph.D., assistant professor of Philosophy, motioned to table a vote to give committees and senators more time to assess the changes. The motion passed with 54 in favor, four in opposition and three abstaining.

Diversity Committee Bylaws
Schmidt held a second read on Diversity Committee Bylaws. The bylaws will now better reflect the way the committee functions. Changes can be found here.
The motion passed with 69 in favor, two in opposition and four abstaining.
Student Affairs Committee Bylaws
Sen. Barbara Decker, interim program director and senior lecturer of Social Work, held a second read on Student Affairs Committee Bylaws to clarify the committee’s authority. Changes can be found here.
The motion passed with 67 in favor, one in opposition and one abstaining.
