Votes
The Faculty Senate has been working on the Multicultural Curriculum Redesign in four straight meetings. In November, the body passed the measure to rename the committee and the graduation requirement to Ethnic Studies Social Justice, describe the requirement and approved five new proposed Student Learning Outcomes. Due to time constraints, the body voted to move the next two SLOs in the Dec. 7 meeting.
During the Dec. 7 meeting, SLO 4 passed with 79 in favor, seven in opposition and two abstentions. However, due to lengthy discussion, SLO 5 and the implementation timeline were moved to a special session Dec. 14.
SLO 5 passed during the Dec. 14 meeting with 66 in favor, 10 in opposition and one abstention. The implementation timeline can be found here.
Curriculum Committee
Sen. Kim Klimek, Ph.D., associate professor of History and Curriculum Committee chair, gave an update on the courses that have been unanimously approved.
