Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty members are invited to join “Creating Interdisciplinary Course Offerings: Resources and Tools,” a new Faculty Learning Community. The FLC will assist members in goal-setting, communication tactics, learning objectives and outcomes, and strategies to overcome barriers in collaboration.

The FLC will provide space, dedicated time and evidence-based practice resources to design an interprofessional activity to increase active learning in the classroom. Sample activities include case discussions, simulation, gaming, projects, trading guest lectures, situational role plays and more.

The FLC aims to cultivate partnerships among faculty members in the spirit of co-learning and co-design. Interdisciplinary faculty collaborations lead to better student outcomes by:

  • Increasing cognitive abilities to think critically.
  • Seeing the same material through different lenses
  • practicing collaboration skills

For more information or to join the FLC, please contact Cindy Krentz, DNP, RN, assistant professor, Nursing, or A.J. Alejano-Steele, Ph.D., professor, Health Professions.
