The University Advancement team at Metropolitan State University of Denver surpassed its fiscal 2022-23 fundraising goal, raising a record $15.5 million — a 44% increase over the previous year. The fundraising success allowed the MSU Denver Foundation to increase its support of the University by 50% over FY22, contributing to scholarships, operational programs and more.

This remarkable accomplishment can be attributed to over 4,700 generous donors, including alumni, faculty members, staff members, individuals, foundations and corporations.

Dedicated MSU Denver faculty and staff members made gifts contributing over $243,000 to the fundraising total, impacting students’ well-being and success now and into the future.

Other highlights include an unprecedented MSU Denver Day of Giving and transformational gifts from Mariner and Megan Kemper, the Kemper family and the UMB Financial Corp. Charitable Foundation (funding the Health Institute, the College of Health and Human Services and the Classroom to Career Hub); Molly and Rob Cohen (directed to the expansion of the Cohen Pacesetter Scholarship Program); Foundation Board member and former Chair Ferd Belz and his wife, Christy Belz (adding to the Student Success Endowed Fund); Foundation Board Chair and former Trustee Dawn Bookhardt, J.D. (funding the Health Institute); the Morgridge Family Foundation (directed to the Classroom to Career Hub); and others.

“President Janine Davidson and all of our University leaders inspire the campus community and our donors,” said Christine Márquez-Hudson, vice president of University Advancement. “People want to help MSU Denver achieve its mission; our job in Advancement is facilitating those connections.”

Advancement will continue to align its yearly fiscal goals with the University’s five-year strategic plan, partnering with current and new donors to invest in four priority pillars: facilitating student success, cultivating inclusive excellence, creating classroom-to-career pathways and contributing to Colorado’s talent pipeline.

“MSU Denver is experiencing a whole new era of excellence, relevance and service to our students and community,” said Márquez-Hudson. “We are committed to sustaining this momentum and continuing to grow investments for the University’s highest priorities.”

Last year’s success primes MSU Denver to provide current and future Roadrunners with the resources to turn ambition into achievement, reach their goal of graduating and become tomorrow’s changemakers.
