For ten years, MSU Denver Day of Giving has been the catalyst for raising funds that support so many of the University’s programs, scholarships and clubs, providing our students with the resources they need to be successful! From life-changing opportunities like participating in competitions around the globe and study abroad, to having access to food, scholarships and emergency aid, this annual fundraising event is an anchor for student success. 

Thanks to the generosity of 1,923 donors making 2,237 gifts to more than 120 projects, the tenth annual giving event raised a record-breaking $449,271. We can’t WAIT to see what we can accomplish with your support next year.  

Together, we can empower all Roadrunners to Rise!  

Here are 10 Day of Giving fundraising highlights from the last decade: 

  • Roadrunners Softball (2026) blew their fundraising goal out of the water, raising $17,566 to help upgrade their technology and improve the student-athlete experience. With more donors than any other Day of Giving project, they also won the Roadrunners Athletics Giving Challenge.   
  • Club Archery (2025) raised $4,775 ($6,550 in 2026!) to keep the club growing by making the sport accessible to students and providing opportunities to participate in competitions, regardless of financial limitations.  

“Donors who support Club Archery make coaching, equipment and travel more accessible to students wanting to learn a new skill and make friends or take archery to the next level and compete in national tournaments,” said Trinity Weiss, MSU Denver Club Archery President. “We are so grateful for their generosity!” 

The program, which launched in June 2022, has grown to include the addition of the Bookhardt Family Speech-Language Clinic. Thanks to donor support, graduate students can provide free services to members of the Auraria Campus and the greater Denver community!  

  • Roadrunners Volleyball (2023) experienced the trip of a lifetime in 2023, competing across Europe, engaging in new cultures and visiting the Albanian home of a then-MSU Denver junior setter – all thanks to donor support! 

“We are so thankful to everyone who contributed to making this trip happen,” said Head Coach Jenny Glenn, who, along with the team, raised over $21,000 to support trip expenses. “We knew it would be a big fundraising endeavor, but we also knew we couldn’t let the opportunity pass us by.”  

  • Rowdy’s Corner (2022) raised $6,888 to provide quality, nutritious food to the thousands of Roadrunners who experience hunger and food insecurity each week.  

“Many students do not have access to affordable and healthy food. As a student who has not been able to afford food, I know firsthand how important it is to have access to this resource.” Jenna S., Junior 

  • Presidential Internship in Public Service (2021) raised $47,875 to provide a cohort of MSU Denver undergraduate and graduate students with a fully-funded opportunity to live and work in Washington, D.C., for 10 weeks each summer, participating in internships focused on public service. The first cohort visited the country’s capital in summer 2022 to learn from and impact the national service community! 
  • The Student Emergency Fund (2020) raised $88,043 to provide emergency stipends to students who are dealing with unanticipated catastrophic life events that might cause them to stop or pause their educational goals. Thanks to the donors, hundreds of Roadrunners each year are able to overcome temporary crises, going on to achieve their dream of earning a degree and making an impact in our community! 

“I genuinely could not have gotten by without additional vehicle repairs. It’s not just the ability to apply for emergency funds that is so helpful, but also the help in accessing resources and support.” Anonymous Student Emergency Fund recipient 

  • MSU Denver Day of Giving 2019 raised over $90,000, thanks to 532 donors. Over $26,000 was raised for Roadrunners Athletics, which included funding for the men’s basketball team’s trip to Costa Rica, where they took part in international competition, community service events and sightseeing.  
  • Roadrunners Strength & Conditioning (2018) raised $2,600 to help build a fully functional and equipped weight room, with the goal of providing student-athletes with top-quality infrastructure.
