Contact UsCBUS proudly offers all its business students the incredible services of a Career Specialist all throughout their time at MSU Denver, and even as alumni. A career specialist offers students resume help, internship and career support, as well as tools to enhance their LinkedIn profiles, portfolios, and all other career related aspects or concerns they might have. Working in collaboration with our C2Hub on campus, our career specialist Clare Fidler, has made great strides throughout her time here and is proud to present an overview of her amazing efforts this Fall semester.
Clare reports back that this semester marks the successful launch of the College of Business Career Services Canvas Shell, where nearly 2,500 students joined – which is more than 75% of our students. The most visited sections primarily focused on resume updates, finding internships, and discovering upcoming events. Also, across our Into to Business (BUS 1850) sections, hundreds of students completed their YouScience career assessments. YouScience is an online tool that measures aptitudes, suggests career matches for exploration, and helps students feel more confident in their career paths.
“Thank you to our faculty partners. I also appreciate the faculty who invited me into their classrooms for career presentations: Joseph Hasley, Clay Daughtrey, Kwabena Peprah, Lisa McVicker, Catherine Jackson, Andy Proctor, Caitlin McCormick, Apryl Brodersen, Devika Banerji, Becky Prater, and Michele Clark. Bringing career guidance directly into the classroom is incredibly helpful to students with busy schedules. I want to highlight the great work in the Classroom to Career Hub. The Industry Partnership Team, including Kerby Meyers in Business and Matthew Demerson in Technology, helped lead several major initiatives. The Meet the Firms Career Fair in September saw record attendance with 158 students. Career Treks were also hosted throughout the semester with partners such as Charles Schwab and Ibotta. Thank you as well to the C2Hub Experiential Learning Team for expanding classroom-embedded opportunities through ICAP, faculty fellowships, and mini-grants. Integrating experiential learning into coursework is an important way to address equity gaps for students who may not be able to pursue internships or co-ops. Please contact me with any questions about our programs. Thank you for a great semester!”
