Students in my research group work on multiple field projects surveying plant and bird diversity in the South Platte watershed. We also collaborate with researchers at the Denver Botanic Gardens and Jefferson County Open Space to monitor and restore riparian communities.
I am currently working with EREN-NEON-EDDIE partners to develop a new course-based research project focused on quantitative data science skills in plant ecology. This project will combine local, student-generated datasets collected at locations around the U.S. with continental-scale datasets like those produced by NEON to address questions about plant community diversity in urban environments.
