Cost and Financial Aid FAQ’s

MSU Denver is among the lowest tuition of Colorado’s Four-Year Public Universities. Take a look at the current tuition and fees here.

The estimated cost of attendance is $41,690 USD for one academic year.  

This total estimated cost includes your educational, living, and other expenses that you will likely have while you live and work in the United States. You can review our estimated undergraduate cost of attendance chart. 

In the bank account document, you must show that you have access to a minimum of $41,690 USD. This is the estimated cost of attendance for one academic year. 

These funds must be in a liquid, cash-ready account that you can immediately access when needed to cover your expenses. 

Yes. More than one source of funding is permitted to meet the financial support requirements. An F-1 Affidavit of Financial Support form must be completed for sponsor who submits a bank statement on your behalf.  

We encourage students to pursue a variety of financial aid resources to maximize their chance of getting awarded. These can include institutional aid through MSU Denver and external, private scholarship opportunities.  

Yes, MSU Denver does have scholarships that international students can apply for. After you are admitted to MSU Denver, you can submit our Scholarship Application to apply for any available scholarships where you meet the eligibility requirements.

However, in order to receive an admission decision, you must first submit the required financial documentation that shows a minimum balance of $41,690 USD in liquid funds. These financial documents are required by U.S. federal regulations and cannot be waived.

Then after you get a positive admission decision, you can apply for MSU Denver institutional aid.

Please be aware that any financial aid awards that you may receive will likely not cover all of your educational expenses. We encourage all of our students to pursue a variety of financial aid resources to maximize their chance of getting awarded.

You can do an internet search for more scholarship opportunities. You may also find some helpful links and information through this webpage to start your search for additional private, external scholarships to help fund your education.

Unfortunately, you can only submit the MSU Denver Scholarship Application after you have been admitted.  

Since financial documentation is required before an admission decision can be made, you will not be able to use any potential institutional financial aid to complete your application.  

If you need assistance to meet the financial requirement, you may want to pursue private, external scholarships. However, please be aware that it may be difficult to secure the full amount only through scholarship awards.

Yes, we may be able to accept your scholarship award letters toward your financial requirement. However, we will review the award letters to make sure that they meet U.S. immigration regulations before they can be accepted.
