Tickets are now available for Metropolitan State University of Denver’s annual MLK Peace Breakfast, a vibrant tradition that celebrates the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

This year’s theme

“Fight the Power,” promises an engaging and enlightening experience. The University is thrilled to welcome three distinguished speakers:  

  • Maryum “May May” Ali, a renowned social worker, author and daughter of legendary boxer and activist Muhammad Ali, will delve into social services and her father’s legacy. 
  • Khalid el-Hakim, Ph.D., founder of the Black History 101 Mobile Museum, will present his traveling exhibit of over 7,000 Black memorabilia artifacts. Attendees are welcome to explore the museum. 
  • Professor Griff, co-founder of seminal hip-hop group Public Enemy, will share his insights into hip-hop culture and societal influences. 

Peace Award winners

This annual event also includes the announcement of the 2024 Peace Award winners, a heartfelt tribute to Roadrunners and community members who embody King’s values of peace, justice, diversity, equality and social change.

Tickets for this impactful event are now on sale. Roadrunners are encouraged to invite friends, family and community members. Attendees can purchase individual tickets or reserve a table, allowing departments to come together, show appreciation or offer a special experience to students.
