Getting help with your assignments
No matter what class you are taking, there is academic and tutoring help available – the resources and staff listed below can help you understand, plan for, and complete your assignments.
Three departments provide writing & language development support.
- Writing Center
- The MSU Denver Writing Center can help with any writing assignment, at any stage of the writing process. They support writers across all writing levels and in any discipline, and they help with summary/response papers, journals, case studies, research projects, collaborative projects, digital projects, resumes, applications, presentations, and more.
- Tutoring Center
- Available both virtually and in person, MSU Denver’s Tutoring Center is a great place to meet with a tutor individually or as a group to review and practice academic subjects and reading/writing assignments.
- Immigrant Services Program

The Immigrant Services Program offers:
- Language development & help with writing assignments
- Assist you in advocating for yourself and for language access
- Personalized language development goals for every semester
- Peer mentorship

If you think that you cannot be successful in a certain assignment or course, explore these options below.
- If a course is too demanding, you may want to consider withdrawing from the course – if you withdraw before the 100% or 50% refund deadline, some or all of your tuition may be refunded! Check the academic calendar for each semester’s withdrawal deadline dates.
- Speak with your professor – we want you to succeed, and perhaps a small adjustment can help you in getting the project finished or succeeding in a course.
- Talk with Immigrant Services staff – we may be able to provide advice or resources you are not yet aware! You can make an appointment with us any time here.
- For specific and highly impactful events in your life that are not under your control, you may be eligible for an Administrative Withdrawal. This process is reserved for unforeseen or extenuating circumstances beyond a student’s control that have prevented the student from withdrawing from a specific course and/or and entire semester before the withdrawal deadline (i.e., death in immediate family, extended hospitalization, unforeseen work-related relocation, divorce, homelessness, or incarceration). You can only pursue this process after the withdrawal deadline (posted in the Academic Calendar). More information here.
