What legal resources are available to MSU Denver students and community members?
Access to helpful and reliable information about U.S. immigration laws, policies, and practices is an important part of navigating life in the U.S. as an immigrant. This page lists legal resources that are available to students and community members, either for free or at a low cost.

Twice a month, during each school year, immigration attorneys are available for free, virtual, private 1-on-1 (30-minute) appointments. During those appointments, attorneys will be able to answer general questions, assist with forms or your questions about U.S. immigration law, policies, and processes, including safety and planning for a potential status adjustment.
Commonly, these Legal Info Sessions occur every other Tuesday, 3-4:30pm, via Zoom. For more information, available dates & times, and to sign up for a meeting with an attorney, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
1. This handout reviews a low-cost opportunity to connect with an immigration attorney, provided by the Immigration Response Group in collaboration with the Spring Institute. Appointments are virtual, confidential, and available in English and Spanish.

Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has created this Resource Toolkit & Family Preparedness Plan, which goes into detail about different childcare options available in case of an absent parent, where to find trusted immigration services in your community, and how to prepare to assert your constitutional rights in the presence of an immigration officer.
