Cap and Gown is one of the most exciting events each semester, namely because it is the perfect opportunity for MSU Denver Grads to begin celebrating their graduation before Commencement. Read on to learn about what you can expect at Cap and Gown on November 19 and 20, 2024.
It’s much more than regalia distribution
Cap and gown, sure, is in large part a way for us to distribute your cap, gown, and other items that you have chosen to order from our regalia vendor, Herff Jones. It’s also so much more than that! Our vendor is on-site for this event, so this is a great time for you to learn more about your regalia or to purchase if you have not already.
Come for the perks
Getting your cap and gown, incidentally, will be the last thing you do at Cap and Gown, which means you can easily take advantage of all the other opportunities we will have available.
First, you should check in with the Registrar’s Office to get any applicable honors cords. These are provided to you at no cost and are a great way to show off your academic achievement. They can also help you change any information on your GradPass.
You’ll also have an opportunity to chat with the Commencement team to learn more about day-of details, such as parking, venue information, ADA Accessibility requests and more. For those who may need to request Spanish Translation services for themselves or their guests at the Commencement ceremony, there will be representatives to help you reserve Spanish translation devices. There are 200 devices available and can be used on a first come first served basis.
The Bookstore will be on-site to help with any final things you may need form them?
Interested in learning more about a Master’s degree at MSU Denver? Well, your’e in luck because the Graduate Studies team will be available to answer any questions you may have!
Our campus partners, The Orientation, Transfer, and Reengagement Office and Veteran Military Student Services will also be in attendance and will be handing out cords at no cost to all graduating students who have transferred from another higher-ed institution – a great way to show your resilience in your academic journey.
Back by popular demand, professional headshots will be available on November 19 at Cap and Gown Pick-Up from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a huge benefit to coming to this event and is a great way to walk into your next chapter prepared. Use these headshots on your resume and LinkedIn profile to show your next manager that you are the perfect, polished candidate they have been looking for. Not looking for something professional? We will also have a fun selfie station set up so you can commemorate this exciting day!
Finally, don’t miss out on getting some free swag from the Alumni Association and get all the details on how to become a member and stay involved with MSU Denver well beyond Commencement Day.
Here’s the Best Part
The lasting thing is to just pick up your Regalia, which Herff Jones has made incredibly simple. If you have not pre-ordered your regalia, no worries. You can place an in-person order on site either day of Cap and Gown Pick Up.
It’s that easy, just walk in and we’ll cover the rest! Join us on November 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tons of fun and excitement!
