Contact UsAs the summer unfolds and the countdown to the fall term has begun, our Accounting Roadrunner Community is making the most of the season! From academic pursuits to fun in the sun, here’s a snapshot of how we have been spending our summer so far:
Six faculty and seven affiliate faculty are wrapping up their summer classes, teaching across 14 sections of 11 courses total – seven undergraduate and four graduate. In addition, we have accounting and MPAcc students putting their knowledge and skills to the test by earning credit for an approved accounting internship.
Ever been on the field at a Rockies game? Lecturer and Director of the Rick Assurance & Advisory Center, Jo Erven can now say she has! She proudly represented the Susan G Komen Cancer Foundation on the field.
Summer can be a great time for faculty to attend and present at conferences, and this summer is no exception! The COCPA Accounting Educators Conference and the Accounting Information Systems Educator Association Conference had great representation from our current and former faculty. We also had faculty traveling abroad as Dr. Minga Negash moderated a plenary session at the SAAA/IAAER Biennial International Conference in Cape Town, South Africa!
In addition to traveling for conferences, summer can be an opportune time to travel for fun and explore with family. Senior Lecturer, Amy Cardillo, celebrated her birthday in two countries, first on a family trip to France and then her annual trek up the Manitou Incline. What a fun way to celebrate!
The summer wouldn’t be complete without a friendly annual golf competition between two academic departments within the College of Business – our Accounting Department and the Marketing Department. Our accounting team consisted of Tae Ryu (Associate Professor), Greg Clifton (Department Chair), Joseph Cao (Academic Advisor), and Jim Murphy (Senior Lecturer). What a beautiful Colorado summer day for golfing and an accounting department victory!
In the midst of summer classes, games, conferences, traveling, and golf, we’ve also been meeting with our students for academic and career advising. With the July 21st deadline to submit a complete Fall ’25 MPAcc application, we’ve also been busy talking with MPAcc applicants in 1-on-1 meetings and virtual events. It has been a blast to better get to know our current students, connect with newly admitted students, and meet prospective future accounting roadrunners.
As we enjoy these last few weeks of summer, we’re prepping for the fall term and can’t wait to connect with our Accounting Roadrunner Community in upcoming engagement opportunities we’re planning inside and outside the classroom. Stay tuned!
