Recognize an outstanding employee for longevity, breadth and significance of service.

The Distinguished Service Awards were established in 1977 to recognize employees who have provided exceptional service to the Metropolitan State University of Denver community and its mission based on:

  • Longevity – service on a permanent basis as a full-time employee over a period of at least 10 years. Nominees that have not worked at the University for at least 10 years will not be considered for this award.
  • Breadth – high quality contributions over the years.
  • Significance – motivated by dedication and commitment to MSU Denver.

To streamline employee recognition programs, the President’s Award for Distinguished Service will be given annually to one outstanding employee.

The award will continue to recognize:

  • Contributions to students, faculty and/or staff.
  • Contributions to department, school, administrative units and/or University.
  • Innovative curriculum, program, and/or management development or special contributions.
  • Professional achievements, awards and recognition.
  • Work with various campus groups, state/national groups, official appointment on any level and/or community involvement as a representative of MSU Denver.

The award recipient will be recognized at the Roadrunners Who Soar event and will receive a $2,000 stipend. This is the only award selected by President Davidson and the senior leadership team.

The award will be open for nominations. Once nominations close, the Roadrunners Who Soar committee will provide President Davidson and the senior leadership team a list of top 5-10 candidates that they will review and select the final award recipient.

To be eligible for the award, individuals must be current employees of the University with a minimum of 10 years of service and must not have previously received the honor.

The next nomination period will open in late 2024.
