Ready to find out what MSU Denver can do for you? We’ve got you covered.
Dear Roadrunner Community,
I am pleased to announce a leadership transition that strengthens the alignment of our University’s strategy and external engagement.
After providing two years of leadership that has advanced MSU Denver’s 2030 Strategic Plan and bolstered community relationships, Chief Strategy Officer James Mejia stepped down to take on a new opportunity in politics. We are deeply grateful for James’ service, his dedication to our CADRE values and his lasting contributions to our institution.
As we look to the future, we are consolidating the University’s strategy and business intelligence functions under newly structured leadership. Kaycee Gerhart, who has served with distinction as vice president of Government and External Affairs, will now lead this integrated portfolio as our vice president of Strategy and External Affairs.
Kaycee brings over a decade of experience in education policy, including four years of outstanding service to MSU Denver, where she has played a critical role in securing more equitable state funding for our students, strengthening relationships with policymakers and community partners and guiding the University through complex legislative and funding landscapes. Under her leadership, the combined Strategy, Business Intelligence and External Affairs teams will be well-positioned to continue our progress toward the 2030 strategic plan goals, aligning planning, data and partnerships in support of our students and mission.
This integration comes at a pivotal time, as we prepare for transformative infrastructure projects, a revised state funding formula and our next-generation student information system. By streamlining our strategy and external engagement efforts, we will enhance efficiency, better support decision-making and academic excellence and sustain our momentum as Colorado’s most accessible and innovative university.
Please join me in thanking James for his dedicated service and welcoming Kaycee to this expanded role.
Sincerely,
Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
President, MSU Denver
