In MSU Denver’s online Psychology B.S., you study the science of behavior and mental processes and learn to apply it to real situations at work, at home, and in your community.
You build a broad foundation across cognitive, developmental, social, and clinical psychology while strengthening research and critical thinking skills. For example, Professor Randi Smith is a licensed psychologist and licensed clinical social worker whose research examines homelessness and housing insecurity among college students and how universities can better support students’ needs. If you’re drawn specifically to mental health work, the Psychology B.S. also offers a Clinical and Counseling Concentration. Alongside the core psychology curriculum, you’ll study psychological assessment, therapeutic techniques, and mental health interventions, and complete a required internship that puts that coursework into practice with real clients and communities. This path is a strong fit if you’re aiming for community mental health work now or graduate study in counseling or clinical psychology later. An online Psychology B.S. from MSU Denver can open doors in mental health, education, human services and many people focused roles in business and the nonprofit sector. Graduates work in settings such as community mental health centers, schools, hospitals and clinics, residential programs, criminal justice settings, and human resources or training roles. Students in the Clinical and Counseling Concentration are prepared to move further into direct clinical and counseling roles within these same settings.
