CMAA stands for the Club Management Association of America, was founded in 1927, and represents the largest professional association for club management professionals, with more than 8,100 current members in the US and internationally. Members of CMAA are involved in multitudes of business sectors, including but not limited to, more than 2,600 country, golf, athletic, city, faculty, military, town, and yacht clubs.

Why is CMAA important to MSU Denver Students?

The reason CMAA was founded was to enhance relationships between club management professionals and others around the same or closely related fields. It offers students an opportunity to expand their knowledge as well as their network by connecting them to some of the most successful and business savvy individuals around our country. Being part of this chapter not only allows students the chance to meet likeminded people but also get access to resources like internships and job opportunities in the club realm or around it that wouldn’t have otherwise been available to them. As of today, CMAA has 40 current and prospective student chapters and MSU Denver’s chapter has recently been made official!

Meet our President!

Currently our chapter is headed by President Matt Soukup. Matt is a finance student at MSU Denver who, alongside the rest of the leadership board, has helped build this chapter from the ground up. Matt will unfortunately be his post this fall semester to focus on completing his degree, but we appreciate all his efforts and will remember him always as our first ever chapter president!

Meet our Vice President!

Jordan Hamilton is an extraordinary student and an incredible VP. She is the operational brain behind all events, meetings, and launching efforts that have taken place for this chapter. She juggles being a TA for Professor Joshua Wilson, having two jobs, being a full-time student, and being this chapter’s VP.

Meet our Secretary!

Quinn will be running for president of MSU Denver’s CMAA Chapter this upcoming spring semester, and we are more than excited to witness her incredible leadership unravel tenfold. Quinn has been our main connection to all the events and clubs we’ve visited, and is an amazing representation of what our club is.

“Before attending MSU Denver, I graduated with my business associates from Arapahoe Community College. I love the club industry and plan to work my way up to an HR Director position at a country club in Colorado. My goal as president is to bring in more outside speakers and get real world advice from professionals on how we students can best achieve success not just in the club industry but the professional world as a whole.” – Quinn Fisher, Secretary of MSU Denver’s CMAA Chapter.

What Does CMAA Do?

Our chapter meets regularly and discusses how to best develop ourselves professionally. We explore ways we can connect with industry professionals, how to enter the club management world, and what to do when we attend our professional events. We also hang out socially to try and build relationships with our peers, and of course, play golf!

CMAA offers all students a to connect with club managers, exchange information on local issues, and participate in social activities. Additionally, our local chapters support the national association’s mission through activities like student scholarship programs and local advocacy.
