Q&A with Jasmine
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
I’m only in person for classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 3:15. So usually I’ll wake up around 7 or 8 in the morning, work on some of my online classes and homework, and then after I get out of my in-person class, I’ll work on any homework or readings I have to do for that class afterwards.
What has your journey at MSU Denver been like?
My journey has been a positive and rewarding experience. I originally attended a university in my hometown of Anchorage, Alaska, but transferred to MSU Denver in 2023 to experience a change in scenery and the opportunity to experience life outside my hometown. The supportive campus environment and hands-on learning opportunities made the transition smooth and have helped me feel more prepared for the future.
What are you passionate about within business?
I’m really passionate about marketing because it combines being strategic with being creative, and it’s really cool seeing how marketing can influence consumer behavior and help a business grow.
What are your future career plans?
I hope to get a job in digital marketing or social media marketing because I enjoy creating content and seeing the analytics.
What clubs, organizations, or events have you enjoyed the most at MSU Denver?
I really enjoy the career fairs because you get to network with companies, and it gives you an idea of what career path you want to take after college. If you’re still unsure on what you want to do with your degree.
What advice would you give to new business students?
My advice to new business students would be to take advantage of the resources MSU Denver offers and to not be afraid to ask for help. Academic advising, tutoring, and career services are all super helpful and can make your experience a lot smoother.
What’s something that you wish you knew before you started college?
I wish I knew that it’s okay to not have everything figured out right away. I originally started college pursuing a nursing degree before switching to marketing, and that experience helped me realize that exploring different paths is a part of the process. College is about learning what works for you and it’s completely normal for your goals and interests to change over time.
What’s your favorite thing about being part of the College of Business at MSU Denver?
My favorite thing about being part of the College of Business is the sense of community and support. The faculty and staff genuinely want to see students succeed and there are so many resources available to help us reach our goals.
