Q&A with Alex
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
Most days are a mix of classes, studying, working, and spending time as a Teaching Assistant. I usually have my planner close by because balancing school, work, and extracurriculars keeps me busy!
What brought you to MSU Denver?
MSU Denver stood out because of its strong accounting program, opportunities to get involved, and the supportive community. I wanted a university where I could gain real-world experience while building relationships with faculty and other students.
What area of business are you most passionate about?
Accounting – especially forensic accounting! I love solving problems, analyzing details, and figuring out the story behind the numbers. My goal is to become both a CPA and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
What’s your favorite College of Business memory so far?
Meeting so many incredible people through the College of Business! From Meet the Firms to a Teaching Assistant to a Student, I’ve met classmates, professors, and professionals who have encouraged me and helped me grow.
What’s one piece of advice for new students? And/or what’s something you wish you knew before college?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions or introduce yourself. Some of the best opportunities I’ve had come from simply reaching out to professors, attending networking events, or saying hello to someone new. Also, use office hours – they’re more helpful than you think!
