Roadrunners are built to make it happen. For many, MSU Denver is a door those before them did not have. Read Chrisnel’s story:

Dear Roadrunner Family,

My name is Chrisnel, and I’m a musical theater major at Metropolitan State University of Denver. As I prepare to graduate this spring alongside thousands of fellow Roadrunners, I find myself grateful for my invaluable college experience and excited to take the next steps on my journey.

I was born in Benin, West Africa; my family and I immigrated to Colorado when I was 12. Learning to live in a new country was challenging, but we quickly settled in by participating in community activities and volunteer work. Not long after, my English teacher, Mrs. Klimper, changed my life by introducing me to what would become my passion: theater.

My first role was small – I played a baker in “Beauty and the Beast” – but thrilling. The stage has been my home ever since, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I dream of becoming a director and performing on Broadway and “Saturday Night Live.” Those dreams led me to MSU Denver.

MSU Denver was my first choice of college because I loved the theater program. I’m so glad I decided to pursue my degree here. Over the years, the connections I built with classmates and faculty members made them into family; they helped me find my true self.

None of this would be possible without scholarship support from MSU Denver alumni and University friends like you. Your support helps students like me chase big dreams and overcome obstacles – it means more than you know. The generosity of Roadrunners has helped me pursue what I love and receive an education I’ll never take for granted.

On behalf of all MSU Denver students, thank you for everything you do!
