Ready to find out what MSU Denver can do for you? We’ve got you covered.
I am thrilled to be introducing myself to my extended Roadrunner family! My name is Sanaa Walker, and I am majoring in Event and Meeting Management, minoring in Psychology and earning a certificate in Culinary Arts. As someone with many interests, Metropolitan State University of Denver has been the perfect environment to explore them all!
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, I am the fourth of 10 children and the only girl; life is never dull! Growing up, I excelled in balancing my family and academic responsibilities. However, the stress of a health issue and moving to a new school partway through high school took its toll. When choosing a college, I looked for a place where I’d have the freedom to dive into my passions and do my own thing – I discovered that opportunity at MSU Denver.
When I arrived at the University, I wanted to study law, learn languages, travel, explore the culinary arts – and that’s just the half of it! With over 100 majors and minors to choose from, I was able to customize my college experience to meet my educational needs and career ambitions.
My degree path has been zig-zaggy, but advisors helped me map out a plan that supported my goals of attending law school and utilizing my entrepreneurial spirit to combat food insecurity.
Throughout my journey, wraparound services like Rowdy’s Corner, the Access Center and the Classroom to Career Hub have enabled me to thrive both in and out of the classroom. I’ve experienced the joy of learning from faculty members who go above and beyond, participating in programs like College Works that connect me to the campus community and receiving scholarships that alleviate the financial burden of higher education.
I am so grateful for the generosity of our MSU Denver family that helped make my dream of earning a degree possible. Your support creates opportunities for students like me to pursue their goals and be the future changemakers of Colorado.
On behalf of all Roadrunners, past, present and future, thank you for everything you do for MSU Denver!
