Colonel Robert K. Mock was a legend at Metro State for his courage and daring as a fighter pilot; his love of aviation, which led him to teach and serve as department chair and dean; and his dedication to Metro State College and his students.

Colonel Mock came to Metro State in 1987 as chair of the aviation and aerospace department and was named dean of the School of Professional Studies in 1996. After serving in this position for five years, he returned to teaching in the aviation department as one of the most admired and loved faculty. In 2005, Metro State honored Professor Mock with the Distinguished Service Award for Faculty. He was given the Metro State Outstanding Advising Award posthumously for the year 2007-2008. Colonel Mock’s history at the College spans twenty-one years.
