Elementary Education and Literacy

Bio

I have been teaching method courses and supervising student teachers/ residents at Metro State University for the past twenty years. I have worked with our department to revise course syllabi, assignments, and rubrics in our program. I consistently use the available online platforms such as, Canvas and Torsch to deliver content, provide feedback, and increase capacity of our students. I have increased my knowledge of effective strategies when teaching asynchronous and synchronous by attending university trainings. In addition, I work directly with our residency coordinators to support our students and mentor teachers to build capacity in the areas of planning, teaching and professionalism. I also collaborate with our CLD partners to increase students' understandings of current instructional practices during formal observations. I work closely with our mentor teachers to build capacity of coaching and feedback. I have participated in multiple reauthorizations with CDE and continue to update and revise the required documents to ensure TQS, OKRs, and learning outcomes align and are met. I attend our department and SOE meetings to collaborate with colleagues. Prior to my position at Metro I worked in Aurora Public Schools for ten years as a classroom teacher and teacher leader.
