Bio

Shamim Ahsan: Bangladeshi-American, Associate Professor of Environmental Science in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Metro State College of Denver since 2005. He teaches a variety of topics on environmental science. Dr. Ahsan also has teaching experience with a diversified group of students in different countries. Before joining as faculty at Metro State College in 2005, he served in various capacities in other national and international environmental organizations. Dr. Ahsan has worked in several developing countries with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the UN –Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP). He has earned wide-ranging exposure and working experience on global environmental issues, which provides him the advantage of disseminating actual life know-how to students. Dr. Ahsan is a firm believer in social justice in all environmental matters and passionately promotes this concept through participation in community activism. He has also worked in ecological research and published several research papers on environmental-related topics. Attend several national and international conferences and present papers.
