I am a Registered Nurse with a Master's Degree in Nursing Education. I am currently working full-time as a Lecturer of Nursing for Metropolitan State University (MSU) Denver. As a strong advocate for Integrative Medicine, I also have certifications as an Aromatherapist and Functional Breathing Coach. I have advanced Spanish language skills and love working with diverse and marginalized communities. I previously served as the Senior Public Health Nurse for Larimer County, Colorado overseeing their Immunization Program. Teaching Interests
My teaching strategy is informed by Humanistic Learning Theory (HLT) and Transformative Learning Theory (TLT). Put simply, HLT helps me see my students as people with complex needs and desires that must be addressed in order for the student to fully engaged in the learning process. TLT helps me understand that my role is to facilitate students in not just learning course content, but learning how to learn and think critically so that they can successfully navigate their future careers in the ever-changing field of nursing.
