Bio

Monica Bies is Licensed Clinical Social Work in practice for 30 years focusing on youth and families through partnerships with urban public schools. She has focused for many years on creating trauma informed systems in K12 schools, consulting to schools, and participating in equity efforts. Monica has worked in several capacities for MSU Denver's Social Work Department over the past six years now having served three years as full-time faculty.

Teaching Interests

I am committed to sharing my wealth of practice and organizational knowledge to students pursuing a social work degree. My philosophy is to teach and engage students in understanding the history of our field, encourage inquiry, encourage curiosity, consider challenges, and identify actions in which they can bring inclusivity and equity to the systems in which they work.
