Biography

Dr. Root has a PhD in English-Literary Studies from the University of Denver. She has been teaching for many years and also tutors in as well as serves on the leadership team for the MSU Denver Writing Center. Dr. Root contributes to the First Year Writing Committee and the Writing Center Advisory Board. In addition to teaching and tutoring, Melissa works as a freelance copyeditor and writer and is currently working on a book. In her rare spare time, she likes to bike, hike, read, sample different wines and beers, and hang out with her dog Lucy.
