Research Interests

All things cultural based, especially folklore that has been deconstructed and reinterpreted. What would literature, the arts, even movies be without the base of folklore. Music has always been of interest to me and I continue to find ways to incorporate it in class. Foodways also, because for me they are part of a peoples/persons identity, and just like music, are an interesting way of looking at history.

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests are cultural studies. I very much enjoy teaching history, through cultural elements and all that encompasses them. Whether its language, music, food, they all demonstrate history and many students connect well with something more personal. Literature also incorporates all of these and is also a favorite tool of mine to use.
