Bio
Mr. Nygren has spent his life understanding material systems from all angles. From a young age, he took an academic interest in engineering and math concepts. This passion to design and create grew while working in woodshops and as a jobsite carpenter for many years. After more than a decade of working in the construction field, Mr. Nygren returned to academics, receiving his degree in physics from MSU Denver. From here, he went on to UC Santa Cruz to develop materials for renewable energy systems, ultimately earning his PhD in Materials Science. Here, he also researched and developed curriculum for classes on sustainable building efforts.
Throughout all of these life phases, Mr. Nygren has continued his creative pursuits in the form of a multitude of both personal and group building projects. His fabrication skills expanded from mostly manual operations to include computer navigated systems by involvement in various laboratory and makerspace settings. He now enjoys utilizing a full spectrum of manufacturing and creative techniques to support both industry and student projects.
