Bio

I've been an instructor of analytical, instrumental, and physical chemistry labs at MSU Denver since 2018 and have met so many wonderful students in that time. Please get to know me because I can work with you to help you decide which courses to take, how to get an internship, and even plan what you want to do after graduation!
Before working at MSU Denver I was an instructor at Montgomery College just outside of Washington DC. And before that I was earning my PhD in inorganic chemistry at The Ohio State University. I've enjoyed travelling the country but am so happy I landed in Colorado. I enjoy the outdoors, gardening, and being active in chemical education research.

Teaching Interests

My primary objective as an instructor is to give my students the right tools so they can build their confidence in their ability to do chemistry. I believe that students are most able to learn challenging content when they are confident in their abilities. To achieve this, I give students metacognitive strategies they can use to enhance their learning, I foster a growth mindset in all of my interactions and assessments of students, and I frequently touch base to offer early intervention.
