As part of the campus’ partnership with Follett, a leading educational-service provider and retailer, the company has committed to providing a wider variety of academic resources as well as more low-cost options. Metropolitan State University of Denver remains deeply invested in developing courses and learning opportunities that include Open Educational Resources and other free and low-cost materials.

Books, academic resources, MSU Denver gear and other merchandise is now available in-store and online

Background on bookstore transition

Following Barnes & Noble’s announcement last spring that the company would not extend its contract to operate the campus bookstore, the Auraria Campus institutions sought feedback from the campus community on their needs for a physical bookstore location on campus. The insights gathered helped to help determine how the bookstore and the institutions can better serve students in offering the educational materials they need while ensuring that faculty members have the flexibility to offer the books, supplemental course materials and OER to support their classes. Affordability, purchase and rental options, convenience and ease of payment were at the forefront in the shared decision-making process.

The Auraria Higher Education Center, MSU Denver, Community College of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver selected Follett because of the company’s strong record of success in higher education, its commitment to low-cost resources for students and faculty and its focus on customer service. The bookstore will serve the three higher-education institutions on the Auraria Campus.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we transition to a more seamless and effective bookstore model.
