A major RTD rail reconstruction project will disrupt several light rail lines that serve the Auraria Campus and central downtown area beginning May 26.

People commuting to campus via public transportation this summer should plan now for possible route and frequency changes. RTD has not finalized all route changes but expects to make final decisions on specific light rail and bus route changes in late April. This announcement should include recommended alternative routes and options for transit riders.

RTD has confirmed:

  • Beginning May 26, all D and H line Light Rail trains, which normally stop at the Colfax at Auraria Station, will be rerouted to Denver Union Station, with stops at Auraria West, Empower Field at Mile High and Ball Arena stations on or near campus.
  • L Line service, which connects the 30th and Downing Street Station to the downtown loop, will be suspended.
  • Service frequency on several lines serving downtown Denver will be reduced.
  • The changes run through September.
  • Some bus routes in the area will also be modified.

The Early Bird will provide updates as they become available; however, Roadrunners should refer directly to RTD as the best source of information on when, where and how their commute may be impacted. Roadrunners are encouraged to check the RTD project website often for the latest information.
