For more than a year, the Faculty Workload Task Force – co-chaired by Gabrielle Katz, Ph.D., professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and Bill Henry, Ph.D., vice provost for Faculty Affairs – has worked to develop a proposal to make full-time faculty workloads more sustainable and flexible. The proposal includes two components reducing the standard teaching load for Category I and Category II faculty members and the creation of a differentiated workload model. Together, these changes will allow faculty members to better support Metropolitan State University of Denver students and the University mission. The proposal and an accompanying white paper were distributed to the University community in November.

The Task Force is currently inviting feedback on the proposal. Members of the Task Force have already met with leaders of graduate programs and will also meet with the Council of Chairs and Directors, the Staff Senate, the academic deans and the Metropolitan State Faculty Federation. Members of the Task Force are inviting feedback on the proposal from relevant constituencies.

Roadrunners are invited to attend one or more upcoming virtual events. Bethany Fleck, Ph.D., professor of Psychology, will present a brief overview of the proposal and lead the discussion; Katz will be available to answer questions. Please note that the faculty-specific sessions will not be recorded so as to promote a safe place to discuss the proposal.

Additionally, all members of the University community are invited to submit comments through a Qualtrics form until Feb. 11.
