Nominations for Metropolitan State University of Denver staff members to join the Staff Senate will remain open until Monday. In addition to division and at-large senators, vacant positions include vice president, treasurer and a new Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion advisor.  

Budget Taskforce Committee updates

Sen. Diane Yee, director of Campus Recreation and chair of the Budget Taskforce Committee, announced that the Staff Senate is seeking an increase in salary supplements for members of the governing body.  

JEDI Committee updates 

  • The Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee is still exploring a written response to Auraria Campus Police Chief Jason Mollendor’s visit to the Staff Senate in 2023, specifically with suggestions as they relate to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion concerns on campus. 
  • The committee is also considering ways to promote equity within Workday among employees, specifically considering name pronunciation, pronouns and legal name changes. 
  • The Inclusive Insights Book Club meeting is Thursday at 1 p.m. via Teams.

  • Any staff member planning to take classes at MSU Denver should consider applying to the MSU Denver Memorial Staff Endowed Scholarship. 
  • Laura Snyder, Accounts Payable specialist, accepted her appointment to the Staff Senate as the senator for Admin, Finance and Facilities from Staff Senate President Ruby Matheny, assistant director of Alumni Engagement.
