Metropolitan State University of Denver is celebrating American Heart Month by helping faculty and staff members get ahead of one of the most important issues facing Americans today: heart disease.

The Human Performance and Sport faculty has developed a program, Exercise is Medicine, to help MSU Denver faculty and staff members improve their overall health. This month, the program is focused on heart health and will present discussions about the basics of heart disease, risk factors and ways to reduce the risk of heart disease. The goal of each event is to integrate learning, assessment and acting to improve each person’s health by having a screening component, an educational component and a related physical activity.

“Exercise is Medicine is a new program developed by the Human Performance and Sport Department and their students,” said Kristin Dupuis, lecturer in Human Performance and Sport. “We are excited to be able to bring our knowledge and skills to build a campus empowered by health.”
