Today through Friday, Metropolitan State University of Denver will host a series of events to celebrate and recognize the University’s Hispanic-Serving Institution designation. The designation granted by the U.S. Department of Education acknowledges colleges and universities that meet three requirements:

  • 25% or more total undergraduate Hispanic/Latina/o/x full-time-equivalent student enrollment.
  • 50% or more of the student body who are receiving federal need-based aid.
  • And the institution’s core expenses per FTE are lower than the average of their peer institutions.
Manuel Del Real

“I’m proud to lead MSU Denver’s HSI Initiatives in partnership with colleagues across the University as we continue our commitment to serving our Latino students with intentionality, while maintaining our unwavering commitment to serving all of our students.”

Manuel Del Real, Ph.D., executive director for HSI Initiatives and Inclusion
