The Metropolitan State University of Denver Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors committed to the ongoing support of and advocacy for the University, generating philanthropic support for institutional priorities, supporting program innovation and more.

To contribute to this vital work, the foundation welcomes new board members Heather Miller and Roopesh Aggarwal.

“We are delighted to welcome Heather and Roopesh to the foundation board,” said Christine Márquez-Hudson, vice president of University Advancement and executive director of the MSU Denver Foundation. “These passionate community leaders bring a tremendous enthusiasm for MSU Denver, fundraising experience and needed skill sets.”

Heather Miller

Executive vice president, chief marketing officer

UMB Bank

Miller recently retired after over 20 years with UMB Bank, where she was executive vice president until becoming chief marketing officer in 2017. She was responsible for all marketing strategies for business-to-business and business-to-consumer channels and oversaw the company’s internal and external communication programs. Miller has a background in communications, marketing, public relations and journalism. She is also an associate partner at Genesis Inc., a Denver-based consultancy providing strategic-positioning, design, communications and investor-relations services. Miller has a long history of board service — she serves on the Central City Opera board and as vice chair of the Project Angel Heart board — as well as philanthropy and service to her community, including longtime involvement with MSU Denver.

Roopesh Aggarwal

Senior director of investor relations

Xcel Energy

Aggarwal is the senior director of investor relations at Xcel Energy, where he is responsible for managing shareholder and investment-community relationships for the multistate electric-and-gas utility. Before Xcel, he was managing director at Ankura Consulting and vice president of corporate strategy, development and finance at Summit Utilities. He brings excellent investment skills to the foundation board. Aggarwal also has extensive board experience, including serving as board chair for the Central City Opera during a major campaign. He is also the father of a soon-to-be Roadrunner — his son plans to attend MSU Denver starting this fall.

“I’ve long believed that access to a world-class education is one of the most important factors in elevating people’s lives,” Aggarwal said. “MSU Denver has set the stage for the education model of the future — today. As a proud parent of an MSU Denver student, the chance to give back to this amazing institution and to help expand its mission is truly an amazing opportunity.”
