Join the Inclusive Insights Book Club for a discussion of U.S. author, essayist and cultural critic Roxane Gay’s short story “Noble Things,” an Afro-futurist tale of the U.S. South after a future “New Civil War” in which the South successfully secedes. Themes include division, family and the consequences of actions. In this time of political division when family dinners can lead to major stress, this story is all too relevant. The nine-page story should take less than an hour to read.

The Inclusive Insights Book Club is a monthly reading group available to all Metropolitan State University of Denver employees that is hosted by the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee of the Staff Senate. Every month, one member leads a discussion on a chapter, story or podcast that discusses issues related to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Please consider joining discussions to expand your views and find a meaningful way to cultivate an inclusive work environment.

Materials for the next discussion are posted to the Teams group on the second Tuesday of each month and are announced in the monthly Staff Senate meeting.
