Dear Roadrunners,

It’s another busy week on the Auraria Campus. While Stanley Cup celebrations take over downtown today, construction has taken over many spaces on the Auraria Campus. Read on for updates and notices on both and remember that all University offices will be closed Monday in observance of Independence Day. As Covid-19 remains present in our community, please have a safe and responsible holiday weekend.

Additionally, self-care has been an emphasis of mine over this past year. As we bring the fiscal year to a close today, I encourage our community to reflect on all we’ve accomplished and to take time to recharge and enjoy our Colorado summer.

Stanley Cup celebrations today

The Colorado Avalanche 2022 Championship Rally will take place today at Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The accompanying parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Union Station and will continue down 17th Street to Broadway, ending at Civic Center. While these events are not expected to directly affect the Auraria Campus, they are expected to attract thousands of fans to the area. Please be aware of traffic impacts, delays and road closures.

Changes to Covid-19 testing and vaccine scheduling

Beginning Tuesday, several important changes will take effect at the Health Center at Auraria. These changes are outlined in greater detail in today’s Early Bird and include:

  • The Health Center at Auraria will now manage all scheduling of on-campus Covid-19 testing and vaccination appointments
  • Covid-19 vaccines will be provided at no cost to students, employees and immediate family members and/or household members only.
  • Covid-19 testing for all students, employees and immediate family members and/or household members will no longer be covered at 100% after July 15. Patients are asked to verify their insurance coverage to determine their cost.
  • Testing and vaccination services will no longer be offered to members of the greater community unless they are family/household members of a campus constituent.

Updated Covid-19 reporting processes

Additionally, employees who test positive for Covid-19 must notify their supervisor upon recognition of their positive test. Employees must also contact the Health Center at Auraria to seek specific instructions. This will likely include a five-day quarantine and confirmation of a negative test result before the employee returns to campus.

  • As a reminder, second booster shots are available at the Health Center at Auraria for all eligible members of the campus community.
  • Please note that federal Covid-19 leave benefits remain available and that the federal government will observe a 60-day notice before cancellation.
