The Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every point on the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics, providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

A sampling from August:

Rachel Sinley, Nutrition associate professor and chair, interviewed with the Arvada Press about the barriers that low-income households face when living in “food deserts” — areas where residents have limited access to affordable, nutritious food.

Glenn Furton, Economics assistant professor, interviewed with Scripps National Media about the latest federal inflation numbers, which are declining and indicate that a recession may not be as likely to occur as some had predicted.

Kiyan Shafieizadeh, Hospitality assistant professor, interviewed with The Denver Post about the rising popularity of “eatertainment” spots in Denver.

Jeff Price, Aviation and Aerospace Science professor, interviewed with The Wall Street Journal about longer wait times for security checkpoints in U.S. airports due to new scanners that were nationally implemented by the Transportation Security Administration.

Shawn Worthy, Human Services professor, interviewed with Fox31 about how parents can detect and navigate bullying/cyberbullying as students go back to school.
