The Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every point on the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics, providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from February:

Chad Kendall, Aviation and Aerospace Science associate professor, interviewed with Scripps News about Boeing Corp. production-safety issues tied to the recent 737 Max 9 jetliner door-plug failure.

Kelly Evans, Ph.D., Sports Management assistant professor, interviewed with 9News about the rising prices of Broncos tickets for the 2024-25 season. She also interviewed with the Denver Business Journal about the rising salaries of Colorado’s professional athletes.

Sam Ng, Ph.D., Meteorology professor, interviewed with Fox31 to discuss how Colorado’s snow type is determined by dry air, noting that our typical snow tends to be lighter and fluffier as a result. There was an additional Fox31 story about why Denver skies look bluer than in other states due to higher elevation.

Ziyao Ma, History associate professor, interviewed with 9News about MSU Denver’s Lunar New Year festivities and the cultural and historical significance of the traditions.

Robert Persichitte, Accounting affiliate professor, interviewed with CBS4 on post-holiday debt. He also spoke with Fox31 about the delayed implementation of a new tax regulation mandating that mobile payment services must issue tax forms to users.
